My company have been using HelpDesk Ultimate for quite some time. It is a great system for individual incidents.
I'm very interested in having a customer contact management module that would allow for management of all contact with a customer through the Magento interface. Most importantly, from the customer screen. Ideally, it would integrate with the HelpDesk system so that it would include ticket contact information in the customer's main thread as well.
It would be beneficial to have a tab on the customer screen that would be an interface for communication with the customer. We could email the customers or leave notes about the customer. If the customer responded to the email, it would add it to the thread on the contact tab and provide some sort of alert in the Admin interface to let us know that there are new messages waiting for us. Of course, it would also need to have some sort of way to flag a message for follow-up so that we wouldn't forget about a message if it was important or needed follow-up.
It would also need to be able to connect to some sort of gateway (like HDU) to get email responses from the customer and add them to the thread. A headline message in the Admin panel when a customer has responded would be great as well.
This is basically the beginning to a CRM module.

Re: Customer Contact Module CRM
Actually we are thinking about a CRM and collecting ideas on this point. I'm sure we'll start the development soon after we have a good understanding of needs of our customers. Indeed it makes sense to connect it to HDU and some other modules by our company, so release of a CRM is just a matter of time.
I'd like to invite other members post their ideas here too.
Thanks.

Re: Customer Contact Module CRM
I'd love to see a CRM from Ahead Works! This is very exciting news because we were using SugarCRM with osCommerce, but haven't been able to find a good solution for Magento. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

Re: Customer Contact Module CRM
If you are making the CRM for Magento it would be nice if it wasn't an over bloated CRM like 99.9% of them are.
It would be good to have
An Email client
Add/Edit Customers - add customers directly from customer registration
Add/Edit Prospects - add prospects from Newsletter sign up
Add tasks for each to a simple to-do list
Add to email lists / Sequences
A Sales process where you can set up a process of things to happen once a customer has been issued an invoice.
If you need any testers for this, i would be available to test ideas etc.
Thanks
Best regards
Zachary

another vote for SugarCRM 6.0 here. SugarCRM is a very complete CRM system but it needs to be connected to Magento to make it useful.

SugarCRM +1
By integrating Magento with SugarCRM you get all the benefits of 2 open source platforms with strong extension development.
We found this vaporware over at MageDir: http://www.magedir.com/sugarcrm-extension.html - The simple specs outlined there are ideal!
From the page: "Information of new Magento customers will be uploaded and registered as ‘contact’ within SugarCRM. Also data of registered Magento visitors that do not place orders will be uploaded to SugarCRM as ‘lead’. This information can be used to optimize the Magento web shop.
Magento-SugarCRM extension features:
Per Magento web shop a SugarCRM ‘account’ needs to be created first. The information from Magento will be uploaded to this web shop SugarCRM ‘account’.
* New Magento customers that place orders in the web shop will be uploaded as ‘contact’ to SugarCRM, attached to the specific Magento web shop ‘account’.
* New Magento web shop visitors that did not place orders in the web shop will be uploaded as ‘lead’.
* A registered Magento customer is allowed to define and view cases from ‘My Account’ within Magento. These cases are uploaded to SugarCRM as ‘cases’ and attached to the specific Magento web shop ‘account’.
* Abandoned shopping carts are uploaded to SugarCRM and stored as ‘note’ within SugarCRM, attached to the specific Magento web shop ‘account’."
We especially link the "Per Web shop" - so that you can segregate unique storefronts (retail/wholesale/etc) in SugarCRM.
If there is a beta for this going on somewhere - we are game!
Thx/chad
